Toggel FLIM Camera

The LIFA Toggel is a next-generation camera-based fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM)  system that makes functional imaging easier by combining excellent light sensitivity with fast image acquisition and data analysis using LIFA software. It minimizes the duration of lifetime measurements and is compatible with any wide-field microscope. In addition to its broad range of applicability and advanced technology, Toggel is easy to install and maintain.

The Toggel camera features a unique image sensor designed and optimized especially for fluorescence lifetime imaging applications. This image sensor enables lifetime imaging at unprecedented frame rates with the single-image fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (siFLIM) method [2]. The camera records two images during a single exposure that are shifted 180° in phase with respect to each other. Demodulation of fluorescence light and the phase shift introduce a difference in light intensity between two images which can be used to track the changes in the fluorescence lifetime. As a result of recording images simultaneously, the artifacts due to cellular movement are eliminated and photon efficiency of the image acquisition is significantly improved.

The built-in time-lapse feature is a useful tool for tracking the changes in the fluorescence lifetime, which is widely used in live-cell imaging. The feature is very easy to use and it only requires the user to set the duration and time between measurements and the software generates the time-lapse video.

This camera also provides high throughput screening capability, with automated lifetime-based screening and characterization of fluorescent proteins.
